Boulevard Brewing Bourbon Barrel Quad

Abbey style quadruple ale fermented with cherries and aged in bourbon barrels. Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas City, Missouri.

750ml bottle, 11.8%abv, bottle #3427 of 11,248 produced.

This is really, really nice. Although quite strong, the strength doesn't overwhelm at all, and it's quite easy to drink. Vanilla and toffee notes are most prominent (along with the malt), with the cherries present but subtle. Also a hint of sourness that adds a nice complexity and balance.

This is a great beer from a midwest brewery I'd never heard of. Highly recommended.

Tracie says "two thumbs up!" too.
