Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron

Brown Ale aged in palo santo wooden casks.
Dogfish Head Brewing, Milton Delaware.
12%abv, 12 oz bottle

This is super yummy. Pours thick and black with a nice dark brown head. Aroma is lots of malt with some great vanilla and caramel notes. Nice rich mouthfeel but surprisingly drinkable for as crazy strong as it is.

Highly recommended.

  1. Wait, a Dogfish Head brew worth a crap? I swear I'm always intrigued by their offerings, but I haven't found one I actually like yet.

  2. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. I like their "90 minute IPA" but a bunch of their other stuff is just "meh." I think they work too hard doing weird historical brews and such that makes for great marketing but don't focus enough on making good beers. But hey, I guess it's good there's somebody out there pushing the envelope a bit, and occasionally, like this beer, they get it very right.
